REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PESAWARAN -- The scorching sun that afternoon did not detract from the intention of the travelers to enjoy the beauty of Pahawang Island in Punduh Pidada District, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung.

Pahawang Island is known as one of the top nautical tourism destinations with alluring sea panoramas, snorkeling spots, and the beauty of the coral reefs that are still preserved. The attraction makes the island inhabited by about 400 heads of the family continue to be crowded with tourists.

Before the ship was launched, the attention of travelers had time to focus on local children's attractions on the lip of the beach. Freestyle and without swimming aids, they dive briskly into the water to retrieve coins as well as sheets of money that tourists throw at them.

The attraction became a sight rarely encountered in urban areas. The children seemed so adept at diving, as if they had been familiar with the sea since childhood.

The journey to Pahawang Island starts from Ketapang Pier, Lampung. As the wooden boat slowly left the dock, the turquoise expanse of sea that combined with the breeze of the sea breeze seemed to make travelers forget that afternoon's sunburn.

About 30 to 45 minutes into the sea, the tropical island cluster begins to appear from a distance. This is Pahawang Island, a nautical tourist destination that in recent years has become one of the primadons of tourism in Lampung.

Along the way to the shady island and away from that urban hustle and bustle, travelers can also witness the attraction of flying fish or torani that occasionally jump on the surface of the sea abruptly. “The fish can fly quite far, about 5 to 8 meters,” said tour leader, Ical.

Pahawang Island offers a mix of marine beauty, a tranquil coastal village atmosphere, and an alluring underwater panorama. Many tourists refer to Pahawang as the “Maldives” of Lampung because of the clarity of its still natural sea water.

The underwater beauty is what makes many local and foreign tourists willingly come to enjoy the charm of the coral reef and its marine biota. Relatively calm water conditions also make the area suitable for snorkeling activities, even for novice tourists.

Travelers now don't have to bother looking for the best spot for snorkeling. The managers of Pahawang Island have provided a number of favorite locations that offer alluring underwater panoramas once tourists sink their heads into the water.

In one of the snorkeling areas, participants were invited to take a closer look at Nemo fish or known as clown fish. The area in Nemo Park is a special attraction because the fish appear docile and are not afraid to approach humans.
